Disconnected systems
Updating inventory accurately to each store was troublesome because the warehouse system did not communicate with the online channels at all.
A sixty-year-old glassware leader that went online early, and discovered that eCommerce and SAP had nothing to say to each other. Every order, invoice and credit note was being carried between them by hand, in spreadsheets, repeatedly.

Established in 1962 in collaboration with Corning Glass Works and headquartered in Mumbai, it serves everyone from school labs to biotech firms to home kitchens. It saw the eCommerce shift early and launched its own store alongside Amazon. Within months the channel was fetching large order volumes, and the team learned how exacting eCommerce is compared with the wholesale world they knew.
The warehouse system did not speak to the online stores, the warehouses ran a wholesale process built for pallets rather than single units, and SAP sat on the other side of a wall of Excel. Five problems followed.
Updating inventory accurately to each store was troublesome because the warehouse system did not communicate with the online channels at all.
The warehouses still ran the fulfilment process built for traditional channels, which does not work for a high volume of one-unit orders, and sales suffered.
Inwarding and outwarding ran in a system the portals could not see, so “out of stock” appeared on the store while stock sat in a regional warehouse, and replenishment could not be planned.
Invoices and credit notes for Amazon, Flipkart and the brand store were produced manually, and complex reconciliation across departments ran on spreadsheets.
Borosil’s IT team had been looking for a workable solution for some time. EasyEcom, having done this for large brands with the same problem, deployed a centralised inventory and WMS layer that integrates with the Magento store, Amazon and Flipkart on one side and SAP on the other. This is the loop.
An order from the Magento brand store, Amazon or Flipkart arrives in one centralised queue, against one inventory that spans every regional warehouse.
The outcomes Borosil recorded once eCommerce ran end to end without a person carrying data between systems.
We started with Amazon about 5 years back in 2014 but had to shut down this venture shortly as it was becoming very difficult to maintain our books in SAP. We had a lot of pressure from the executive team to devise a solution. There was no quality platform available that could help us accomplish this goal. Internal SAP team tried to develop a custom solution but they didn’t have any eCommerce background and it ended up complicating the matter even further. EasyEcom’s professional and knowledgeable team did a great job in consulting us with the best practices to follow and we are happy that now we have a completely automatic solution for eCommerce that works seamlessly with SAP and across channels. We are planning for an international launch via eCommerce to US, UK and other parts of Europe and Middle East. Happy to have a partner like EasyEcom
